CBOT hired a lawyer to head market data services. The move has already paid off. By Kirk Kjeldsen

Data piracy is Tom Cargie's number one concern. As vice president of market data services for the Chicago Board of Trade, Cargie and his 11-member team are working to find a method of protection that will prevent distribution without authorization.

Not surprisingly, Cargie says that with the commoditization of market data, content protection is the most important issue for commodity exchanges
