After the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, a security consultant visited a number of Wall Street investment and financial services firms to find out what their evacuation plans were in case of an emergency. Roughly 80 percent of all firms had instructed their staff to meet at the local PATH station, where trains run to New Jersey.
