Waters Rankings 2013: Best Mobile Solutions Provider — Morningstar

Morningstar pulled off something of a coup by winning what was unquestionably one of the most hotly contested of all the categories in this year’s Waters Rankings, given the current interest from all quarters of the industry in mobile communication.
The mobile solutions space can be divided into two constituents: services that are app-centric—that is, the app itself and the functionality embedded within it is the feature—and services that are data-centric, which is where Chicago-based Morningstar excels.
Its Morningstar Mobile app, available via free download on all three major mobile operating systems—Apple iOS, Android, and BlackBerry 10—provides financial services professionals with a veritable smorgasbord of critical data on approximately 420,000 investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles, along with real-time global market data on more than 9 million equities, indexes, futures, options, commodities, foreign-exchange instruments and precious metals. Morningstar also offers users its Mobile Portfolio service, allowing them to monitor entire portfolios in real time while on the move.
