Sell-Side Technology Awards 2020: Best Sell-Side Mobile Initiative—Tier1 Financial Solutions
As the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted workplaces around the globe, flexible working capabilities have never been more important than in 2020. Tier1 Financial Solutions’ development of Tier1 Mobile, the mobile version of its desktop-based relationship management platform, proved instrumental in delivering the Toronto-based firm the win in the best sell-side mobile initiative category in this year’s Sell-Side Technology Awards. “What we’ve really seen over the last few months with Covid-19 is that mobility has become more and more important purely because of the disconnect between information that’s easily available, like when you’re in an office you can lean over and quickly ask somebody a question,” explains Manish Patel, chief product officer at Tier1 Financial. “Now, there’s a disconnect and a need to share that information electronically and in a much more targeted manner.”
The mobile application provides users with a complete desktop experience, including a full suite of tools such as pipeline management, account information and contact lists. Tier1 Mobile also includes the same level of security, connectivity, and workflows available on the desktop version. It is designed to enable increased collaboration, transparency and reduced business risk, as users have flexible access to services and functionality.
The application has mobile device management (MDM) compatibility, enabling IT administrators to secure, control and manage the distribution of Tier1 Mobile to internal teams. MDM is designed to help optimize the functionality and security of mobile devices, while also protecting corporate networks. Tier1’s technologies are built on Salesforce’s infrastructure and leverage its encryption, developer toolkit and plug-ins. Sell-side and buy-side clients can configure the mobiles to their desktop workflows, harmonizing visibility of tasks and enabling consistency across operating systems.
Over the last year, Tier1 has focused on facilitating a platform that allows clients to extend the mobile platform using their own resources to meet their needs. Tier1 Mobile’s framework enables users to build bespoke plug-ins and customize their interfaces.
Over the next 12 months, Tier1 is looking to build out the analytics capabilities on its mobile and desktop applications to include more insights on corporate deals and events. The vendor will also develop its client relationship management workflow on the mobile version and include new functionality such as the ability to book meetings and arrange calls.
