IMD & IRD Awards 2020: Acquisition of the Year—The London Stock Exchange’s proposed acquisition of Refinitiv

Topping the readers’ survey for the acquisition of the year is the intended acquisition of Refinitiv by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). First announced on August 1, 2019, the proposed $27 billion all-share megadeal would create a significant new financial markets infrastructure provider, with considerable competitive clout against other leading exchanges and data providers.

The announcement of the deal came less than one year after the creation of Refinitiv in 2018, when Thomson Reuters
