Sell-Side Technology Awards 2022: Best sell-side data management product—Solidatus
OVERVIEW
Solidatus is a metadata management platform designed to speed up data projects by cutting discovery time, reducing risk and costs, and streamlining implementation timeframes. According to the London-based firm, it is the only tool currently on the market that provides users with organization-wide understanding and control of their data, allowing them to visualize their data lineage, and providing them with the knowledge and context they need to make better decisions and operate more efficiently.
Solidatus is technology-agnostic and can leverage existing software. It provides multiple connectors, importers, and an open API to ingest and catalog metadata from multiple sources. This helps to create and combine reusable building blocks to deliver holistic, end-to-end data supply chains to solve multiple business and governance challenges.
“Our cross-border data sharing approval process was impeding change through a heavily manual and slow procedure. Solidatus’ transformative technology powered our solution, digitizing data sharing approval requests and delivering an automated response based on a set of predefined parameters. What was taking months is now taking minutes.”
Matthew Widick, group head of data management, HSBC
THE SOLUTION
During 2021, a tier-one bank with over 40 million customers, operating in 64 countries, was experiencing challenges around data sharing across the firm due to regulatory complexity and manual legal and operational processes. Within six months of implementing Solidatus, the bank achieved increased value from data tied up in complex processes and was able to provide instant answers to data requests, remove operational bottlenecks and gain a firm-wide view of data sharing. In August 2021, Solidatus was selected by British Business Bank to enhance its end-to-end data management, data governance and data lineage capabilities.
WHAT’S TO COME
In February 2022, Solidatus established its new US headquarters in Houston, Texas. Co-CEO and co-founder Philip Dutton relocated from the company’s global headquarters in London to drive Solidatus’ North American strategy and expansion, while co-CEO and co-founder Philip Miller will continue to head up the London office.
WHY THEY WON
It goes without saying that the best sell-side data management platform category is one of the most competitive of all 28 individual categories on offer in these awards. London-based Solidatus wins its first ever WatersTechnology award, thanks to its eponymous offering designed to address data lineage, throughput and sharing issues, thus allowing firms to make the most accurate, repeatable and transparent business and investment decisions.
“Solidatus was built on 35 years of consulting experience to address a consistent pattern of data management limitations. Our ambition is not only engineering a very necessary piece of software, but also to build a company that is collaborative, inclusive and forward thinking—a tech company of the future in terms of our ethos as well as our product.”
