Legg Mason Capital Management And Two Other Units Roll Portia, Reject WinDX, Axys And PMIS

PORTFOLIO SYSTEMS

BALTIMORE-based brokerage Legg Mason Inc. has purchased Thomson Financial Services Inc.'s Portia portfolio management system to handle fixed-income, equity and multi-currency funds managed by its Legg Mason Capital Management Inc. unit, as well as by its global bond desk and its private client services group.

At Legg Mason, the PC-based Portia replaces Data Exchange Inc.'s WinDX portfolio management system, which previously was used to meet the three units' portfolio management and reporting
