ISE: Data Rises Could Reverse

The exchange attributed the rise to an increase in ISE's share of industry options trading, which grew to 31.9 percent in Q2, from 30.6 percent in Q2 2006. ISE's market data revenues are generated on a per-trade basis from ISE's trading volume and from its pro rata share of the Options Price Reporting Authority's net income.

But ISE officials say that efforts under way to encourage increased trading by institutional investors could reduce its data revenues, because institutions typically execute
