US-Europe Exchange Divide Emerges

Market data revenues are declining at most North American exchanges but are rising among European exchanges, according to the exchanges’ financial results for 2003.

"Greater product innovation and information diversity have saved the European exchanges, while the US has suffered from royalty cuts through the loss of terminal business without having alternative product offerings to supplement the core business," says Steven Allen, director of market data consultancy, DataContent.
