US Regulators Move on Research Conflicts

The other shoe dropped last week when the SEC, the New York Attorney General, the North American Securities Administrators Association, the NASD, the New York Stock Exchange chairman and state securities regulators completed actions against ten US investment firms.

The April 28 action finalized a December agreement following investigations into undue influence by investment banking departments on analysts responsible for covering the firms’ banking clients.

The ten firms? Bear Stearns, Credit
