Citing Outages, Westpac Fund Mgrs Remove Equinet In Favor Of Beacon

Sydney-based Westpac Investment Management has begun removing the Knight-Ridder Financial Equinet service that its quote users have been relying on since the service was introduced. To replace Equinet, Westpac is installing Beacon service from Reuters-owned Infocast Australia Pty Ltd. The group decided to shift to Beacon last month after it experienced repeated outages while running Equinet service across its Microsoft Corp. Windows-based local area network.
