Electronic trading discussants at the eleventh annual New School conference on futures and options recently held in New York expressed doubts about the viability and cost-effectiveness of electronic trading systems like Globex. But an informal poll of futures industry sources shows that while some empathize with the fears of the panel, most are optimistic about the advent of 24-hour electronic trading.
