As TST went to press, news had emerged--via Microsoft's own Web site of all places--that Merrill Lynch, as part of a deal to license the Windows NT operating system, would equip some 27,000 client PCs with the vendor's Internet Explorer Web browser software. Perhaps equally interesting however, is something that didn't appear in the Web-site announcement: Sources in Merrill's New York trading room say they use Netscape Communications' Navigator browser--and add that they do not currently
