Nomura Shuts Nomura Rosenberg, Shifts Staff Of Calif. Think-Tank To NRI

Nomura Securities Co. Ltd., which four years ago teamed up with quantitative investment specialist Barr Rosenberg to form the Nomura Rosenberg Investment Technology Institute, has decided to close the institute down. The San Francisco-based think-tank was created to develop systems technology and proprietary analytics for Nomura's traders--primarily those in Japan. The institute had seven employees. Most will be transferred to Nomura Research Institute America and Nomura's office in Tokyo.
