Amex’s Hybrid to Use Lintel, FIX

NEW YORK—The American Stock Exchange (Amex) is on its way to becoming a hybrid market in time for Regulation NMS, and along the way, the exchange will fully embrace the FIX protocol and Linux-Intel hardware, say Amex officials.

The new technology directions are key to the exchange’s efforts to ready itself for the market that will arise after the implementation of Regulation NMS, says Antoine Shagoury, executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO) for Amex.
