Nomura's Money Markets Desk To Test Verbex Voice Recognizers

MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY

Nomura Securities International Inc. plans to test voice- recognizers from Verbex Voice Systems Inc. to input trade details at ten positions on its money markets desk in New York. Should the system pass muster, several hundred traders throughout Nomura's New York-based capital markets groups could use voice to run a variety of Sun Microsystems Inc.-based applications.

"If the system does what we want it to do, it'll do more than just data input," says Nomura senior vice president, John C. Howe.
