OPRA Rates to Slow in 2012, But New Options Exchanges Yet to Show Full Potential

The Options Price Reporting Authority has released new projections for options data traffic and bandwidth requirements for 2011 and 2012, anticipating that the amount of bandwidth required to handle its consolidated feed of US options quote and trade data will double by this July, before tapering to the lowest growth rate in four years by July 2012.

According to a notice sent to data recipients earlier this month by OPRA executive director Joe Corrigan, firms will need capacity to handle 5.257
