AI enthusiasts are running before they can walk

They say crawl, walk, then run. Well, it seems that when it comes to artificial intelligence—and the new favorites, generative and agentic AI—institutions want to hit the ground running.

And some have. This year we’ve seen: Citi prepared to launch GenAI tools, undoing its firm-wide ban; BNP Paribas explore GenAI for its securities services business; Man Group’s find alpha-generating strategies with agentic AI; and it does not stop there.
