We are writing with respect to your feature "Markit RED: Invaluable Standard or Monopoly?" which appeared in the June issue of Inside Reference Data. The feature implied that there were some negatives to having a single market standard for reference data in the credit markets and further, that Markit used its trusteeship of the database to unfair gain. We would like to take the opportunity to respond to these points.
