Options Exchanges Squeeze Data Traffic

The International Securities Exchange has proposed a one-year pilot for a quote mitigation plan to reduce traffic by easing the quoting obligations of the exchange's competitive market makers (CMMs). Current rules require CMMs to enter continuous quotes in all series of at least 60 percent of options classes in the CMMs' assigned group.

According to ISE, the proposal would reduce quote traffic by requiring CMMs to enter continuous quotes for only 60 percent of the series, rather than all series
