Manulife Fin'l 'Power Users' To Drop Windows For Unix

Toronto-based Manulife Financial, an insurance company with some $44 billion in assets under administration, is making a transition from the Microsoft Corp. Windows operating system to Unix for half of its Reuters Triarch 2000-supported trading population. The insurer was driven to Unix in part by its determination that Microsoft's current and future operating system offerings couldn't run multiple simultaneous applications.
