Of course, I'm referring to the coming battle royale between the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market, which the SEC recently named a full-fledged exchange.
As was widely reported, the NYSE seat owners voted to merge with Archipelago Holdings, the Chicago-based operator of the Archipelago Exchange (ArcaEx), an electronic stock and derivatives market. In one major step, the NYSE became a public company as it is moving full steam ahead with the hybrid open-outcry/electronic system
