Shareholders Approve Transatlantic Exchange

NEW YORK—With 98.2 percent of Euronext shareholders and 99.7 of NYSE Group shareholders voting on Dec. 19 and 20, 2006 for a merger of the two bourses, the first transatlantic stock exchange appears to be a done deal, barring any interference by national regulators.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and France's regulatory watchdog, Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), still need to approve the venture.
