SIA, TBMA Join Forces for Second Act

NEW YORK—Perhaps feeling left out by recent mergers in the exchange world, the Securities Industry Association (SIA) and the Bond Market Association (TBMA) announced last Wednesday that they would join forces to create the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) approximately 30 years after they first parted ways.

The boards of directors for both groups approved the merger last week, but final approval is subject to a vote this month by member firms.
