Central Africa to Gain New Exchange

Based in Libreville, Gabon, Bourse des Valeurs Mobilières de l'Afrique Centrale (BVMAC) will trade equities and bonds, which will be quoted in Central African CFA francs, a currency used in 12 former French colonies, says Yvon Psimhis, director general for the new bourse.

The plan to launch the exchange was born in 1999 after a feasibility study was conducted to show the viability of creating a regional exchange in the area, according to BVMAC officials.
