Kx Retires 32-bit Kdb+ Software
"Kdb+ has always been available in 64-bit," says Kx chief strategist Simon Garland. "But we needed a 32-bit version for developers whose feed handlers only had a 32-bit software development kit. Now, with data volumes going the way they are, no-one can afford to develop in 32-bit anymore, because with support for only around two billion distinct records, it has hit the wall in data volumes... whereas with 64-bit, there is so much space that even we haven't been able to fill it yet," he says.
