Nasdaq's PHLX market (the former Philadelphia Stock Exchange) experienced two trading halts last Tuesday, Dec. 29. A trading halt in symbols E through J between 10am and 10.30am was followed by a smoke-related evacuation of the PHLX trading floor at 11.05am that halted trading in all equity, index, exchange-traded funds and currency option classes. The fire department declared the building safe and market makers were told to return for a resumption of trading at 12
