While the wrangling continues over which agency should regulate government securities markets, there appears to be a consensus in favor of standby rulemaking authority to ensure expanded access to interdealer broker Treasury prices.
Representatives of the Department of the Treasury, the Securities and Exchange Commission and relevant subcommittees in both houses of Congress said the Government Securities Act will likely be expanded to include oversight of price dissemination. Their remarks came
