Pont Sues Australian Stock Exchange Over Data Licensing

Pont Data Australia Pty. is suing the Australian Stock Exchange, charging the stock market organization with using its claim of copyright over Australian market data to impose "unjustifiably onerous" conditions on third-party vendors taking its Signal C data feed.

Pont is seeking new contract terms with the ASX under the Australian Trade Practices Act. The suit brings to a head a long-running dispute between the ASX and several Australian-based vendors.

Pont went to Federal Court on July 11, and
