Reuters Bought Teknekron; Will Bear Stearns Do Likewise?

Bear Stearns & Co. found itself in an interesting position when it got word late last month that Reuters had cut a deal to buy Teknekron Software Systems Inc. Reuters' Dec. 17 announcement of the planned purchase preceded Bear Stearn's intended trading room system request-for-proposal dissemination date by only four business days. Not surprisingly, though the firm went ahead and sent its RFP to Micrognosis Inc., Reuters and Teknekron as planned, the Reuters/Teknekron deal had an immediate impact
