Island Joins Supermontage, Testing Begins

NEW YORK--The Island ECN elected to join Nasdaq Stock Market’s Supermontage trading system last week and began testing connectivity with the market’s systems last weekend. The move appears to signal a warming in the relationship between the largest ECN and the market that has increasingly been viewed as a hostile competitor and challenger to the survival of ECNs, which now control about 40 percent of Nasdaq share volume. Island alone had more than 11 percent in March.
