Fannie Mae Builds $60 Million "Project 2000" For MBS Traders

Federal National Mortgage Association, more affectionately known as Fannie Mae, has allocated $60 million for "Project 2000," a far-reaching plan to build a distributed, workstation-based pricing and analytics system. Fannie Mae will use Project 2000 to distribute loan and mortgage pool data, analytics and eventually pricing information on the mortgage-backed securities (MBSs) and real estate mortgage investment conduits (REMICs) it issues.
