NYSE Prepares to Broaden Direct+ Platform

NEW YORK--The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), responding to criticism about its lack of automation, will submit a proposal to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to broaden access to its automated execution platform, Direct+, exchange officials announced late last week (see item, page 10).
As the first major move under new CEO John Thain (TTW, Dec. 22, 2003), NYSE officials will eliminate two of the trading restrictions in the current rules--the 30-second limitation for consecutive
