London Traders To Get Extranet, Pilot Could Begin By Second Quarter

The creation of a London City-wide Extranet, Port, received a boost at the City IT '97 trade conference this month when keynote speaker Sir Brian Jenkins told delegates that the co-operative venture is becoming a reality. The information infrastructure involves the creation of a single network through the integration of participating telecommunications service providers. Once it is operational, the network promises to lower buy-side firms' costs for trading and retrieving market data.
