AMEX And Instinet To Develop SITUS, Rival To NASD's PORTAL

Reuters Holdings PLC's Instinet Corp. subsidiary and the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) have emerged as partners in an electronic trading system for private placements. The system -- dubbed SITUS, for System for Institutional Trading of Unregistered Securities -- will rival the National Association of Securities Dealers' recently launched Portal system.
Private placements are unregistered securities that save the issuer the trouble of going through the Securities and Exchange Commission's
