NYSE Will Use Crossing Network To Provide After-Hours Trading

As part of a five-phase plan to introduce 24-hour trading by the year 2000, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) announced board approval of a crossing network for after- hours trading. The exchange hopes to have the system running by year-end.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has cleared the way for Crossing Session I of the NYSE plan, which introduces a session for crosses beginning at 4:15 p.m. and ending at 5 p.m., New York time. However, the NYSE says it has yet to formally apply
