First Union Integrates Infinity With Applix For Exotic Derivs

First Union National Bank of North Carolina is rolling out a new technology platform for its derivatives trading and sales staff, based on an integrated combination of Applix Inc.'s Applix Real Time spreadsheet package and Infinity Financial Technology Inc.'s Montage derivatives system. Bank officials say the new platform -- which was developed in-house using toolkits supplied by Applix and Infinity -- will be used by First Union's derivatives staff to price and manage non-standard interest rate
