The Sooner We Move to T+1, the Better

To the Editor:

There have been several articles, post-Sept. 11, on how quickly we can now move to T+1 settlement. All the arguments so far have focused on the reduction in capital spending leading to a delay in T+1 implementation.

This seems to me a very gloomy and perhaps a very wrong attitude to take. There is little doubt that the finance sector (representing the epitome of western capitalism) is likely to be an ongoing target for disruption.

It is reasonable
