PaineWebber Finally Goes For Micro's Mips; Signs Deal To Support Up To 700 Trader Positions

Painewebber Inc. has signed a long-delayed pact with Micrognosis Inc. for the vendor's real-time Mips digital data distribution platform--in a deal that some doubted would ever be consummated. Though details remain sketchy at press time, the firm, which selected Micrognosis' platform over Reuters' Triarch 2000, plans to extend Mips from its current small user group to support up to 700 traders. PaineWebber intends to install Mips in place of its incubent platform, a Reuters/Rich Inc. video
