Asia Awards 2022: Best AI-based solution—LIST, an ION company
OVERVIEW
In order to stand out from their industry rivals, capital markets firms need to offer unique, value-added services. LIST, an ION company, believes that its research into AI is the key to providing that edge. So far it has utilized hierarchical temporal memory networks to detect anomalies in multidimensional real time; developed curve forecasting for volume-weighted average price (VWAP) trading using long short-term memory (LSTM) networks; provided a recommendation system for B2C markets advice and anomaly detection in market abuse contexts; offered signal status prediction for limit order book dynamics using a convolutional neural network and LSTM networks; and improved optimal execution orders strategies using reinforcement learning.
“LIST remains at the forefront of innovation in technology for financial markets. We believe in creating value for our clients by streamlining processes and supporting their decision-making. Our product lines for trading, surveillance, and risk management have evolved both functionally and technically over the years to support growing complexities, volumes, and extreme events in financial markets.”
Mirko Marcadella, chief product and marketing officer, LIST
THE SOLUTION
LookOut is LIST’s multi-asset solution for market surveillance, regulatory reporting, and business analytics. It’s designed specifically for buy-side and sell-side trading venues and investment firms, with a pattern-recognition engine that supports several surveillance tasks, including analyzing orders, quotes, trades and public market data in real time. LookOut’s built-in patterns operate cross-product and include market manipulation, insider trading, best execution monitoring, market-making surveillance, book reconstruction, trading obligation monitoring, and market integrity surveillance. LookOut’s machine learning for alarm classification module—developed with LIST’s machine learning toolkit (MLT)—helps compliance teams to manage market abuse alerts by balancing algorithmic analysis with human judgment.
WHAT’S TO COME
LIST’s continued research means its MLT will keep evolving. It also aims to examine new technologies and methods at every stage of the development cycle and further invest in ML and AI to enhance its products.
WHY THEY WON
FX Global Code coverage
LookOut’s surveillance module has been extended to incorporate compliance with the trading-related principles of the code.
Integrations
As LIST is now an ION company, several initiatives are in motion to integrate LIST’s products within the ION ecosystem.
Growth
2021 was LIST’s best year in its history, with significant growth in many key financial indicators.
