SEC pulls rulemaking proposals in bid for course correction

The regulator withdrew 14 Gensler-era proposals, including the controversial predictive data analytics proposal.

On Friday the 13th of last week, the US Securities and Exchange Commission announced it was withdrawing 14 rulemakings originally proposed during the tenure of its previous chairman, Gary Gensler. The proposals covered compliance and market structure-related rules designed to protect investors from the rapid adoption rate of emerging technologies, imposed more due diligence measures on investment managers, and increased cyber security protections across the Street.
