TMX eyes global expansion in 2026 through data offering

The exchange operator bought Verity last fall in an expansion of its Datalinx business with a goal of growing it presence outside of Canada.

John McKenzie doesn’t like the term “exchange group.” As the head of Canadian exchange group TMX, he recognizes the irony there.

Exchanges often include the word “group” in their names—the sign of an entity with multiple parts—but McKenzie is averse to the image it evokes. “I think too often that concept of group sounds more like a collection of businesses,” he says.
