Thomson Unveils Upgrade Plan For Unix Portia; Introduces Portia For Advanced Platforms


Thomson Financial Services Inc.'s Thomson Investment Software unit made an effort to clear up the confusion surrounding its strategy for bringing the Portia portfolio management system into the world of Unix.

At the fourth annual Portia users' conference, the vendor outlined plans for the forthcoming Windows-based version--release 1.1--of the PC-based Portia. At the same time, it introduced the so-called Portia Advanced Platform Option (APO)--a Sybase Inc. database server running under Unix
