Thomson Buys Instant Link, Begins Building Replacement Before Ink On Deal Dries

Thomson Financial Services Inc. has purchased Instant Link, Reuters Holdings PLC's Instinet Corp.'s trade confirmation system. With the deal, Thomson acquires Instant Link's software and technology--which it is already looking to replace--and, more importantly, a customer base of some 200 users. Thomson has also begun work to connect Instant Link to its own planned order-routing systems.
