The biggest firms on Wall Street have teamed up to provide a free equities data portal. Should the major market data vendors be worried?

Remember the good old days when firms paid vendors like Reuters, Thomson and Bloomberg to distribute their proprietary data and then charged their institutional clients to view it? In December, the nine firms behind beta tested a service that could fundamentally change that model. Those firms--which represent some 80 percent of all capital markets
