How Do You Spell Interoperability?


XML was supposed to revolutionize the business and help firms achieve straight through processing. But it’s quickly becoming apparent that protocols aren’t much help if they can’t speak to each other. Is that about to change?

FIXML. FpML. FinXML. SwiftML. RIXML. IRML. NewsML. EbXML. NTM. MDML. STPML. EcomXML..... The list goes on. And on. And while the sponsors of each of these initiatives tout their many benefits, there’s a snag: few--if any--of the protocols can talk to the others.
