Panelists: Underscore Data Case to the Business Side

Panelists at a data panel at the North American Buy-Side Technology Summit said data quality is dependent on the business case.

As data volumes increase, it is important for the business side to drill down on the type of information they need. This means enabling some of the data to stay behind in silos and only provide that type of quality data a particular use case is looking for, said John J. Farris, executive vice president and head of sales for Rimes Technologies.

"We ask them what data do you need today or tomorrow because it becomes a data management challenge if you're only using a percentage of it," said Farris
