Firms are misunderstanding how client data is used across the business, say authors, who advocate a bottom-up, incremental approach to achieve progress.


"It has always been important to manage client data well, but the rationale is changing. Traditionally, there were projects around client relationship management and potential commercial and competitive advantages to doing that well. This was always difficult... particularly for large organizations, but now there is an added regulatory imperative," says Jonathan Poole, a partner at FinReg, and co-author of the report, titled Complex Client Structures and Fragmented Systems Landscapes.
