ICE's NYSE Euronext Acquisition Nears
The Act stipulates that mergers and acquisitions cannot go through until a detailed filing has been made with the US Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice, which will assess whether any antitrust laws have been violated.
The proposed acquisition was announced on December 20, 2012, but remains subject to a number of other regulatory requirements before it can be completed, including competition approvals in Europe.
