NEW YORK--FIX certification is getting ever closer. After a report from Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC) analysts, the FIX Committee has narrowed down the candidates to two and is in negotiations with both.

The 50-page RFP was sent out on July 2 to more than 50 firms with a deadline of August 9. A team of business and technology analysts at PWC examined the responses and hosted a bidder's conference, which about a dozen firms attended, says Benjamin Glicher, senior manager
